Here's a hot tip for local history enthusiasts, and those with fond memories of the positive ways the Independent Labour Party organised round these here Lancashire areas, especially Nelson. See the Clarion Hut, social meeting place of the ILP on TV tonight. BBC1, 7.30pm, on a programme called 'Inside Out'. One of the glorious windows from the ILP's local centre on Vernon Street, Nelson is in the Clarion Hut, and I suspect will get a mention. There were two windows, the other is in the Working Class Movement Library.

Hey up, Mitch told me to meowse you that unfortunately this was on last night, (24th) and she missed it, and she's an idiot. ;D and did anyone tape it!? She says she's coming on this 'ere forum later to write something about the great Civil Rights activist who stood up in her own Community in Alabama and refused to give up her place on a bus in 1955. She struggled to find work after this in Alabama, and was arrested and fined for her action. Her brave action triggered off the Montgomery Bus Boycotts. She died today - a great woman. I have some writings of hers somewhere to bob up from the book 'Eyes on the Prize'. www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1600197,00.html
