If you can't make it on Thursday, why note donate to LMHR? All proceeds will go towards next year's 30th Anniversary of Victoria Park Carnival, set to ramp up the Dont Vote BNP message 5 days before the GLA elections - email or call us to contribute.
RAR - A CELEBRATION
From 1976 to 1981 a unique cultural-political movement, Rock Against Racism (RAR) along with a political movement the Anti Nazi League successfully united hundreds of thousands - black and white - to stamp out the fascist movement of the day, the National Front. The movement's enduring symbol was the monster 1978 march to and gig in east London's Victoria Park which featured The Clash, Tom Robinson, Steel Pulse, and many more. Next April, RAR's modern-day heirs Love Music Hate Racism will stage a huge "30th Anniversary of Viccy Park" carnival aimed at uniting people today against Britain's contemporary fascists, the BNP, and encouraging people to get out and vote to prevent the BNP winning seats on the Greater London Assembly or adding to their 50 local councillors already elected around the UK.
This celebration, part of the Hackney Empire's "Spice Festival" will bring together an audience of RAR veterans with their young Love Music Hate Racism counterparts, and put on one stage the cream of the punky-reggae generation alongside stars of representing the best of today's "militant entertainment".
