Yeah - i'm miffed on this spearhead group as well - what is it? Fascists seem to have gone very quiet in Burnley, nothing in the local papers lately, but then they do sweet f u c k all in the council chambers anyway so there aint nothing to report. Since Maureen defected and exposed internal mayhem in BNP in Burnley they're a dead duck. Wonder if the fascist t w a t s in Burnley will be daring to lay a wreath on Holocaust Memorial day coming up on 27th January 2005 in Burnley as they have done in previous years. We should be watchful of that, and plan some direct action if they do - any volunteers?? www.holocaustmemorialday.gov.uk/(PS. Warm welcome Nedludd - best Mitch)

Thanks for the links Nedludd and Mitch...I hope that they do not attempt to leave a wreath this year too..Yes I will be willing to support any Direct Action that we wish to take, however I would not like to be disrespectful to the other people who commemorate this event.
Nedludd..that website is very disturbing, with disturbing articles too, especially the one about the 'alternative' holocaust. I am sure that nobody condones any sort of war crimes, committed on either side, but to highlight atrocities committed by the allied forces without acknowleging that the atrocities in the German 'deathcamps' took place as well is just outrageous.
I felt uncomfortable even visiting that site...let alone exploring it...

I find it offensive that Burnley councillors are, in the words of our old friend Fred who is recovering from his designer house decorating shinanigans,
"....willing to accept the British National Party on equal terms ..". (Northern Voices 4)
And to stand at an event like this alongside members of the BNP and say nothing. We need to broaden this debate surely to include a criticism of the 'do nothings' in Burnley, and to highlight the years of neglect, incompetence and opportunism of those in power in local government. The 'feebleness' of local councillors that Fred talks about in his article I would broaden to include ineffectual unions in Burnley who are closely aligned to local government, and have failed to challenge racism in their own unions, let alone in the community at large.
hey up here's Fred again,
.."The fact that since the election of the first British National Party councillors and their ability since to keep their numbers up, despite enormous efforts to discredit them, has been humiliating for the parties on Burnley council and their lefty allies. Recently the Council leaders have tried to get the BNP on board. At one time the Labour leader urged them to go independent rather than stay as British National Party Councillors. Forgetting that the same ploy was tried with Hitler and the Nazi Party in pre-war Germany.."
On this Spearhead site - this appears to be the ramblings of two sick fascists - Tindell and Smith. I can't see much else written by anyone else.
I think the BNP have served many interests of the main parties, distracting us locally from challenging the effects of New Labour policy in our communities.
The fascist BNP was never the answer, on a local level now we should be concentrating together on hard hitting community campaigns against the effects of New Labour policy - for example the increasing amount of casual work, the soul-destroying monotonous jobs available to people in our communities like supermarket work, poor housing, low pay, issues around public health such as rolling out telecommunications masts, and the knock on effects that such issues cause such as depression, alcohol and drug abuse, family breakup, and violence within the family.
I'm sick and tired of the BNP bringing hate and division into our communities, and distracting us from this fight.
