POWER TO THE PEOPLE GATHERING, BURNLEY METHODISTS, HARGREAVES STREET, BURNLEY(adjacent to Burnley Town Hall)
SATURDAY, 2ND DECEMBER 2006, 1.30PM TO 5PM

Representatives from Burnley & District Friends of the Earth and Together Against Masts (TAM) are coming together to organise a gathering of local community groups, residents groups and campaign groups to share ideas and experiences, and to potentially come together as a coalition to fight for accountability of local government representatives and for local democracy which many of us have seen eroded, thus frustrating our individual campaigns.

We hope the afternoon will prove to be an opportunity to learn from each other, find out more about the various local campaigns that have been working hard in the area recently, and to listen to a small selection of speakers.

The event will take place in the big hall within Burnley Methodists Church on Saturday, 2nd December and will be widely publicised and open to the public. The Day’s Events will be as follows:

1.30pm to 3.00pm – Stalls and chance to network and learn from other campaigns (Tea & Coffee Available)
3.00pm to 3.30pm – Speaker Dennis Cannon (Chair, TAM) – Summary of Together Against Masts Campaign
3.30pm to 4.00pm – Speakers Avril Hesson– summary of Towneley for the People Campaign.

If you would like to reserve your own stall place and are interested in attending, please contact Avril on the telephone number belowe, ideally before 27th November. Light refreshments will be available on the day.

PS. anyone wishing to do a bookstall or related community campaigns magazine stall and so forth, or a stall to raise money for any local or national campaign is most welcome to come along. Contact Avril to reserve your space.

Hi Mitch...do I have to contact Avril for a stall covering The Burnley and Pendle Voice, and The Little Marsden Community Action Group?

I'm sure the Lets people will be more than interested in this event, as you have suggested, and it would be great to combine the other events taking place that day with a Lets trading event!! Can you think of any other groups I work with that I may have forgotten? Just to fill up my stall, lol. ;D

Hey up, soz missed this earlier! Aye, I would give her a ring as she's centrally co-ordinating it. Could do it after Tuesday maybe when we know whether Lets are happy to do a stall.
