Anyone had any experience of 'Pathfinder' regen schemes?
Around 200 houses face demolition and families face eviction in East Lancs as part of a scheme to 'regenerate' under-populated areas. Many tenants fear they will be shunted off to a new estate in the middle of nowhere as the government creates housing for commuters to Manchester, etc.
The specific scheme is 'Pathfinder' -- under the Dep. PM (ODPM -- Prescott), naturally. Anyone know the specifics? Looks like it's being undertaken by Capita among others. One of the elements is the UK's first 'academy' school -- anyone know details on what these are? Are they a PFI?
I'm trying to do some research into who, why, where on behalf of a local group -- the HEART residents' campaign can be contacted on natashahomesafe@hotmail.com. They'd apprecialte any support or publicity that people can give. If anyone who is known to me can help and wants a telephone number then PM me; if anyone can get info to the media that would also be great.
There will be a presentation on 'social cohesion' given by the ODPM on the 27th jan -- one of the topics is Pathfinder, with reference to West London. Does anyone in London know about the local experiences of Pathfinder?
