Response to a letter

I got a letter this evening in the mail. It was from the Republican Party of Florida. This is their letter, reproduced:
September 17, 2004
Dear Friend,
Congratulations! You recently registered to vote and you have taken the first step in being an active participant in the election process. Former president Ronald Reagan understood this when he said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
This election is about our future. A future focused on:
· Tax relief so hard working families can keep more of what they earn,
· Fighting and winning the war on terror, and
· High standards and real accountability in education.
We in the Republican Party strongly believe in everyone’s right to participate in our country’s electoral process. We urge you to consider voting Republican. Please take the time to visit our website at www.rpof.org.

So I wrote a response. I want to let it be known that this response applies to most political organizations, and while I probably wouldn't have done this with a similar letter from a Democratic organization, if you change a few words around, it applies to them as well.
Here is my response:

Dear Republican Party of Florida,
Congratulations! You recently wrote me a letter and you have taken the first step in being an active participant in the propaganda and brainwashing process. Former President Ronald Reagan feared this when he said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
This election is about our future. A future focused on:
· Recognizing buzz-phrases like “tax relief” that doesn’t actually “relieve” anything
· Fighting and winning the war on ignorance and misinformation, and
· High standards and real accountability in our elected officials.
I strongly believe in everyone’s right to an honest and truthful electoral process. I urge you to consider letting facts, and not your personal interpretation of facts, decide this election. Please take time to visit your website at www.rpof.org, and remove slanderous and potentially scandal-inducing material.
