I have been reading this book, on and off, since October...I didn't realise until tonight how well known the author already is, and that he died shortly after completing this book.
I find it very interesting...I guessed early on that the writer was 'left wing', though I ought to have guessed that as I bought it from a 'left wing' bookshop! LOL.
Anyway, I'm not very good with words when it comes to reviewing things so I will leave you with a link to an obituary of David Widgery which includes a short review of this and his other works.
