Great idea Mitch, I can email the peeps who're already online about it and a general mail out can be sent too...perhaps we could persuade a few people to at least get email addresses at their libraries just to use for Lets if they don't normally have one...would be so much easier corresponding with them all...even newsletters could be emailed! now wouldn't THAT be a saving... superbo, hey up let us 'ave next date of Lets core group meeting, me wanna come back now after me recoup - tittery tittery. Will Sal have me back for a bit? ;D I'm missing her this week!! Wonder wot her and R are upto in the caravan. Bet they ain't doing much birdwatching at Marton Mere

'D i c k i e's Meadow Social and Trading Event' 30th July 2005...times to be arranged.
This should be a good event, to be held in 2 acres of fields and woodland area in Accrington. There will be various stalls, manned by Lets members, and an area set aside for children's activities...arts/craft, climbing frame, toddler seesaw, sandpit, dining area...and hopefully some other activities such as 'beat the goalie' and a children's treasure hunt.
Refreshments will be available all afternoon.
Some Lets members will be displaying their talents at alternative therapies and such like and all are welcome to join in the fun...if you join Lets too, you can purchase goods/services on the day without spending any money either!!!
Please let me know (PM or Email) if you are interested in attending.

How about making some use out o' this projector and having a film shows in the evening if we can think about projecting it onto something. How about The Exorcist or a selection of horrors? eek, or something lighthearted along those lines - titter. Orrrrrrrrrr how about Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music. We could make it fancy dress? We could do print outs of the songs (or a little programme, which people can buy for lonks if members/money if not!) to hand about, and hooray we can hear Sal sing again, and all come dressed as nuns. I'll bring this idea to core group meeting. Fred can come in his collar? (possiblity as well of a film tent maybe, with kids stuff during the day - I have a selection of - suffering seaweed, Captain Pugwash, The Wizard of Oz and wait for it - Trumpton and Camberwick Green. Also, for the stand I need to check it's ok with core group for me to do my 'Village idiot knicker waving stand'?? Do you think they'll mind me selling off me old grey knickers for lonks? I've several that are now ripped as well, will that be ok, plus a couple of unworn thongs as I can't stand the bloody things ;D Cotty has agreed to perform several songs (if he doesn't he's out the bloody window!), and was practicing last weekend as he was sent home from work for calling the boss a 'w a n k e r'. He should have plenty of time to practice now as he'll soon be sacked! WE NEED MORE BANDS - some have logged onto this forum at some point, any of you lot fancy a do? Also, Jules I know you know a few people, fancy being Band Agent for this do? Does Jules fancy coming to this core group meeting this Friday. And Kaz, you know more about keeping kids entertained than anyone - has Kaz got any ideas, and does she fancy coming this Friday too. Off to put me knickers in a box - I've some lovely pink ones that used to be white, but went in't wrong colour wash. ;D Wonder if Alex would perform? Looking forward to the meeting. tararara Sister Mitch x .......... 'climb every mountain, follow every stream, something something something .....till yooooooooooouuuuu find your drrrrrrrream, ooooooooooooooahhhhhh tra la la PS. Octoberlost you got any contacts with bands (preferably ones that don't make the top of us heads blow off ;D)

Thanks Mitch! lol...those ideas re film shows for kids and for adults sound great...Cabin Fever would probably go down well late at night...teehee...
As for the bands and stuff, any help from any source would be most appreciated...unfortunately payment can only be in Lonks, or free publicity? Not too bad methinks...

Hey Michele, Good luck today with the mayhem filming. I want it known that I'm not happy with this god d a m n runaround that Burnley Community Alliance are placing on our East Lancs Lets members at the moment. They are causing us problems, rather than assisting with support. I'll raise it in the next core group meeting - eek. tarara Mitch xx

Thanks Mitch! Well I'm afraid it was a chaotic waste of time in the end...nobody from Community Alliance knowing the address at which the filming was taking place, me making my own way there having arranged a lift for the Community Apprentice...who we all thought knew the address!!! LOL...in the end the filming was cancelled Well, never mind, I've spoken to the folks at Comm Alliance and we're gonna try to work together in the future, to try to ensure that these sort of days do not occur again... Tralala...back to looney land for me, methinks!!!

Been a while since I've updated this thread...Lets News I think it should be renamed!
Anyway, as you can see from the previous posts, we had quite an eventful summer, and have been working with 2 community apprentices, Sandra Fishwick and Khadam Hussain, who were placed with us,on loan, from Burnley Community Alliance as part of their Community Apprenticeship Scheme. Sandra finished her work with us at the end of July, and Khadam will be working with us until the end of October. Their assistance has been much appreciated.
I attended an informal Lets get together at one of the members' houses in Accrington this afternoon. He and his partner are still members of another Lets Scheme in Cambridge...and showed us copies of their recent newsletters, with ideas for trading events and social events...it was a 2 sided newssheet and many of the trading events were taking places in members' homes as opposed to hiring out halls, also they were centred around a particular type of product to be traded...for instance, at one trading event members were invited to trade books, at another the trade was in plants...other events were planned at members houses, poetry nights, French speaking nights, and day trips by the canal or picnics were also planned. The ideas looked very interesting to me and the others who attended today, and we are planning on introducing them into the East Lancs Lets Scheme shortly.
So, if anybody is interested in becoming a member of East Lancs Lets, and wishes to get involved in these social and trading events, please PM me and I will forward information to you.

I'll open up the File Share Prog again, have been advised by Graeme that it isn't a good idea to keep it running all the time, but will try so that documents are available more till I find a better method of linking to them...

Last night 11 members of East Lancs Lets got together at the Istanbul Restaurant, Church St, Colne, Lancs, for their Christmas Meal. It was a lovely evening, beautiful surroundings and friendly, accommodating staff...the food was delicious and inexpensive too!! A great time was had by all, and new friendships found. We've now started our own Frappr group so please feel free to add yourself to it, and become a member of East Lancs Lets. For more info about Lets and how it works, please email me or send me a PM via The Burnley Voice or Frappr! www.frappr.com/eastlancslets
