It’s queerupnorth as the festival launches to a sell-out crowd!
Everyone’s a little the worse for wear in the queerupnorth office today after joining a sell-out crowd at Harvey Nichols last night to watch Kiki & Herb launch this year’s festival.
Kiki said it was fantastic to be back at queerupnorth just before they go to Broadway, although she was disappointed that Harvey Nichols had closed the store shopfloor so she couldn’t get any shoes!
If you’ve yet to catch this amazing show there’s just one more night left. Beg, steal or borrow a ticket!
Tickets are £18 advance sales only available from Ticketline at www.ticketline.co.uk or 0161 832 1111.
Love queerupnorth xx
PS If you are going tonight, make sure you wish Kiki (aka the lovely Justin Bond) a very Happy Birthday!

Starting tomorrow...
International love artist Kathe Izzo is back and invites you to join her in the creation of The Love Shack at Contact from tomorrow until Sat 20 May (not Sundays).
Like last year, Kathe will hold a series of intimate love appointments and her guests are invited to bring with them materials to furnish the home with love. Beginning as a simple structure, The Love Shack will be built over two weeks from people’s contributions of home furnishings, photographs, objects and their own ideas of home and love. Walk-in viewings and impromptu visits are especially encouraged...
Visitors can book FREE appointments with Kathe by calling 0161 274 0600 (BSL interpreted drop-in session for the deaf takes place on Sat 13 May between 2pm-6pm).
The London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival On Tour begins Ten Days At The Flicks at the Odeon Manchester tomorrow night with Happy Endings (15) at 8pm. An epic of interlinked stories set in LA, the film features Steve Coogan as a very believable gay man alongside Friends’ star Lisa Kudrow as an emotionally damaged counsellor.
Tickets for all films showing as part of the festival are £4 and available from the Odeon Manchester, The Printworks on 0871 22 44 007 or www.thefilmworks.co.uk
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Continuing tomorrow...
The Night Of Light workshops continue with the lovely Jez & Helen at Princess House tomorrow night between 7pm-9pm. Workshops are FREE and no prior experience is required to help create costume and lanterns for the festival’s closing night (Sun 28 May). The workshop space is fully accessible and open to all age groups (although children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). Drop-in or pre-register by emailing light@queerupnorth.com.
