A number of accounts are coming our way from people working in both Nelson and Burnley that they cannot survive on the low pay for just one job alone, for example the basic wage from casual factory work, supermarkets and care work. Also, many self employed workers are supplementing their meagre income with second jobs, in areas like Cleaning, Security and care night work.
I know how this feels, I've had second job cleaning jobs - the pressure eases if you've a partner and two incomes (albeit two low paid incomes coming in!), but not always.
Many of our friends are having to do two jobs to pay the rent/mortgage to survive.
Any friends out there in this situation we're interested in your accounts - how it feels like to do two jobs, how it affects your personal life, how you might be tired all the time, and how you're worried about bill paying and so on. In your words.
We've a friend who has just lost his evening cleaning job which they did on top of a full time other job - he was sacked cause someone complained about a floor he cleaned.
Cleaners are often second jobers round here for many.
Post your accounts here - we want to hear from you.
