Manchester Pride 2006!
Coming up in August...our friends at Manchester Pride 2006 promise to be just as exciting and outrageous as last year!
The ten day festival extravaganza will take place between 18-28 August 2006. Predictably quirky, the Big Weekend kicks of with an attempt to break the record for the highest number of drag queens dancing in a line!
The Big Weekend will incorporate Dance Day, Alternative Day and Pop Day. Other highlights include The Manchester Lesbian and Gay Chorus (fresh back from Montreal's Pride Games), who will kick start the weekend celebrations, Pride Games Lite, the Pride Pink Picnic, Woman's Space, Lifestyle Expo and the Candlelight Vigil.
The Manchester Pride Parade, will be taking a different route on Saturday 26 - straight through the heart of the city. Parade workshops are currently taking place, every Sunday and Wednesday until the 20 August, and every day between the 20 - 25 August. To find out how you can get involved please check out the website.
New for 2006, the One Hundred Fifty Club will allow you to enjoy all the privileges of a VIP guest. Relax in the luxurious lounge located at the heart of the event, mingle with the performing artists and receive three free drink for each of the four days. Fast track service at a designated wristband exchange and an exclusive VIP pack containing information on events running over the Big Weekend are also included.
Manchester Pride remains the largest urban gated event site in Europe and raises the largest sum for charity of all Pride events in the UK. Its ticketed policy ensures that it is also one of the safest.
Tickets to Manchester Pride's Big Weekend are available from www.manchesterpride.com and from various outlets listed on the web.
PS Also look out for the launch of Gaydio on 15 August 2006. Manchester's new radio station for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans community will be broadcasting throughout Pride from the offices of The Lesbian & Gay Foundation.
