You've done rather well to stay out of this section for so long Mr Pike.
On 4th November in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph (see LET, Thurs, 4 Nov 2004, p.19) you piped up about lack of funding for local theatre, and how the Mechanics was suffering and in dire need of extra funding from the centre. No mention of Jeremy Hardy in your article - talk about diverting attention.
Can I just suggest that Burnley Borough Council is peopled by a bunch of bureaucratic prats, who like many in positions of power in Burnley and Pendle have become rather adept at stifling creativity and art in the area.
Did you know that with a budget of nothing, and a very small organising team we managed to fill Unity Hall in Nelson with nearly 100 people for a performance of 'Tea with Mrs Pankhurst' - a play about the relationship between Mrs Pankhurst and a local radical called SELINA COOPER. We expect to have more theatre in Nelson.
Whilst I would agree that Estelle Morris and other cronies in central government are a bunch of prats as well, I would just like to say that if you really practiced what you preached and listened and learned from people in the community our theatre and arts in the area would be more alive and kicking - IDIOTS ALL!!!
