Oh dear Mitch...have ye found out the 'true' identity of Billy Smith? Wonder if he was the one that wrote that damning email to Community Alliance about us....

This board claims to be for the community to express their opinions and so on. Funny as soon as someone who has disagreements with you posts anything the immediate reaction is to ridicule them and call them stupid.
For your information I am not Peter Pike, I am not even a member of the Labour Party, and my politics are much further left than his. I wonder what wondrous piece of investigative journalism resulted in that conclusion. Did you ask your mentor and guru bryan to assist?
The restrictions on joining the Community Alliance apply to all political groups, not just anarchists so you cannot claim a particular repression there I’m afraid. Would you be happy if the BNP set up a community paper and applied for funds?
So bryan you are a journalist. Is this how you make a living or is that just a hobby like the anthropology? I am glad you can find amusement from the poor backward folk of Burnley, I think anthropologists often find poor deluded ‘natives’ to help them in their studies. I’m pretty sure the journal you work for can’t be paying you a decent wage. I have seen the journal and my only comment would be get a proof reader. I’m sure you have posted elsewhere that you are an electrician, I hope if you are that you wire plugs better than you write (see I can be mean as well).
I admit my knowledge of anarchism and anarchist and Spanish history is limited. I did meet an anarchist at a meeting last year in the course of my work. We were in a workshop on Trade Unions. I could understand a lot of his criticisms of TUs and was surprised to find out later that he was an anarchist. He didn’t call me stupid and we had a worthwhile discussion around the failures of TUs and the present political system. I didn’t agree with everything he said but it did get me interested as his arguments seemed more grounded in reality. Strangely enough I’m going to a meeting next week and he may well be there. I must remember to mention these exchanges to him and get his reaction. I won’t say anything further about this as I have a feeling you may know him.
Well I am glad that I have piqued your interest. It must be exciting for someone to come along from outside of your little band to take part in your games. I may post again or I may not. It looks like I could be leaving Burnley soon anyway due to changing employment so that will be one less stupid local person for you to worry about.

Hey Bills/Filthy/or whoever, You're being a bit poe faced. I genuinely did initially try to make a friendly and welcoming connection, addressing all of your concerns about cliques, and Michele has given you explanations and her defence about your accusations that we are a bunch of naive village idiots? I'm sorry you don't want to help with our Burnley Voice newsletter. And I've no doubt you'll be back on this board next week after your meeting with your new found friend. He'll have plenty of stories and poison to fuel your pen. A word of warning though, don't disagree with him on any point will you sweetie, urr he doesn't like it, and that's a shame because I thought he was a friend too, come to help us here in Burnley. adieu Mitch x

I'm glad you'r not Peter Pike anyhow! But to claim your not a member of the Labour Party? What does that matter, you, at least, give the impression you vote for them? All they want is your vote!!!! What else matters? The dead in Iraq, a hundred thousand of them. The civil liberty scare because these people you voted for are going to charge anywhere from 85 / to three hundred pounds for a card to impair our liberty and resrict our freedom. The loss truth and trust and the lies about Iraq? Do any of these things bother you at all? Do they mean anything to you? You tell us that you are far to the left of the Labour Party. What does this mean?. We are not on the left and view it simply as part of the political system. It doesn't surprise us You'rsupport of the establishment , you participate in the voting sham and you ignore the welfare of your fellow citizens. You critise me / us for calling the voting system and the people who use it foolish. Well you maybe right. How-and-ever you don't come out well at all from the exercise. But, you have your own thoughts on the matter and if you can live with them there's nothing we can do at all on the matter. But please don't be pompous about it. Jeanne d'Arc your not!

Hiya Billy...I am sorry that you have formed a particular opinion of the Burnley Voice and its participants. I am certainly interested to hear the opinions of everyone who visits the site, whether or not I agree with them. If I disagree, but am unsure of the facts of the matter, I will consult with other people, more knowledgeable than me, before reaching a decision. I do not disagree with anyone just for the sake of being awkward, however if somebody comes on here just to ridicule us, I feel entitled to defend the group and it's aims etc.
I am well aware of the stance that Community Alliance takes regarding ANY political party, however I was applying as a community group because I was hoping that the Burnley Voice could reach out and provide a platform for people of all political persuasions, who have a valid concern to air their views. Obviously I would not be happy about the BNP doing a similar thing as I do not believe that they are hoping to encourage community cohesion, instead they are more interested in inciting racial hatred amongst groups, so please spare us the comparisons.
