As requested at Saturday's N.A.N. Conference at Bolton, the older topic: N.A.N.Conference 2005/6 has been moved to our archive section, so please refer to that area for the latest from last Saturday's event.
This new thread is for the continuation of news from the Conferences for the coming months, and I hope to archive older threads within it as it fills up.
I must add my comments to the others made regarding Saturday's meeting. It was extremely interesting, a good mix of local Socialist history, 20th Century Spanish History and recent moves in the I.W.W.
Plans were also made to keep in touch with other activists from the libcom website in order to help organise the Great Manchester Anarchist Convention 2006, and to keep in closer contact with each other regarding other matters such as the commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Spanish Civil War.

Hi Bryan, thanks for this update. I presume the Hare and Hounds is in Manchester? Should be an interesting conference...possibly an invite back to my house for a BBQ in the evening, if anybody's interested?

Hi all,
Well I really must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the NAN at Manchester at the weekend. For the 1st hour Barry and Brian spoke of events surrounding the Spanish Civil War. The women who had been involved in it, and of the events around the organising of the exhibitions.
A date was set for the NAN to have a day trip to Llandudno, during which Chris Draper! will give a guided tour of the town. There were suggestions afterwards that this could be an overnight stay.
Following this, and after a somewhat heated debate about Nationalism, a representative from the Manchester Electricians spoke about their struggle and appealed for support. A hat was passed around into which donations were placed towards this cause and for the costs of hosting the NAN conference.
Wreking Stop The War and Burnley Anarchists brought the other people up to date on their recent activities, and future plans.
An announcement was made that Michele was to hold a post NAN party at her home in Nelson for all interested, and then the group made their way to The Basement to view the Spanish Civil War Exhibition and to listen to the final speaker, Dave Chappel. Unfortunately I can't report on this as I had to leave early to prepare for the party.
Arrangements were made for the next NAN conference to be held in Wellington, Shropshire, followed by another one in Nelson in the New Year and for a Xmas time meal to be arranged for all interested.
I apologise for the briefness of this report, and hope that somebody will print a longer one, with synopses of the talks given where possible.
I would like to send out a BIG thank you to all that attended my party afterwards...it was 4am before I got to bed and 4pm before I got out of bed the next afternoon!! ;D

Hee hee, wot a good do. Tell you what, Mel and me didn't get to sleep till 5am! We sat up chatting and scoffed a packet of biscuits when we got in - ha ha. We got soaked in a downpour on the way home, but didn't seem that bothered by it. Cotty moaned about me cold feet though when I finally got to bed. These blokes you know, they make good hot water bottles Good day all round - liked that Hare & Hounds too - nice crowd downstairs. Lurvely bitter too!!! (ps. titter - his names Chris Draper - reckon he'd be amused by the Norman Bates tag grin......) Damn it, I'm away a bit in September - so unless the visit to Llandudno is end of Sept I might miss it. Wanted to go too. cheers for minos Mitch ;D
