www.af-north.org/anon.pdfI've just had a quick skim read of this excellent article from the Anarchist Federation on thoughts for the struggle against ID cards. It's extremely informative on how Big Business benefits from the introduction of ID cards, and on the real intentions behind their introduction - surveillance, and surveillance of the poor. Most interesting are the comments on retailers and banks using information on databases, and how Labour's ID card bill should more appropriately be called the 'National Identity Register Bill' - since it's intention is more about establishing a national ID database than issuing cards. It is also critical of some of the arguments being used by some anti-ID card campaignss such as Liberty's. The class issue of this ID scheme, and it's intention to control are really well put across in this article. I'm beginning to see links between the development by retailers like Walmart of 4G masts, but that's another thread.
