Pending press release/beg Nov 2005, currently being considered by others in group/should go out in next couple of days - to be forwarded to Burnley Express/Lancashire Evening Telegraph & Nelson Leader:Subject ID Card Implementation. Organisation Lets discuss ID cards (Burnley and Pendle) Location Central Methodist church, Hargreaves St Burnley (Opposite Blockbuster, next to town hall) 10-11-2005 7PM Advantages Applications Details According to www.no2id.net the government intends to spend in the order of £200 per person in this country to implement a national Identity card carrying maybe more sensitive information than many of us would like to see in the public domain. With the present links between big corporations and government/s, and also the increasing numbers of people already being persecuted financially by past and present government measures, an open meeting has been organised on 10-11-2005 at 7PM, Central Methodist Church Burnley (Opposite Blockbusters) in order that any person, family or party likely to be affected (And lets face it, we will all be affected) can offer their opinion/s pro or anti. Should you be in need of further information, directions or times and dates of further meetings, call Michelle on 01282 703980 or e-mail burnleysaysno@hotmail.co.uk Many thanks to A & M for work on this - fantastic. We can use this thread for future press releases to get them up here on the Voice also. Best Mitch

Hey Michele, thanks so much for agreeing to distribute press release. I know what you mean about specific contacts for local newspapers. It's a minefield, and often comes down to local connections and who you know - eek. The web links often aren't the right people. I bet Tony Greaves would be able to help on the Nelson Leader contacts, and does Sal or Tess know specific contacts for Burnley Express & Lancs Telegraph. Let me know if you need me to find out more. bestest Mitch xx

I'm gonna route out the contacts names/emails that I already have for Burnley Express and Evening Telegraph, from the emails I sent them for Lets stuff...and will look again at the Nelson Leader contact details to make sure I send to the right person...sorry I haven't got round to doing this sooner...just been trying to cope with me shoulder and the doctor's appt!! She was really good, btw, saw the doc instead of a nurse, and she's given me stronger pain killers and some pain killing and anti inflammatory gel to rub in too...has been helping a little today...thanks for the hot water bottle, that's been superb!!! It would be a good thing to get to the bottom of - specific press release contacts for local papers. Someone at community alliance might be able to advise, or how about ringing that guy from community alliance. Alternatively could ring all the papers direct and ask them! I'll email Tess, see if she can help us too. More later. Are you away Thurs night with S & R, or are you about for BA meeting? bestest mitch xx

Hey! great news about the Burnley Express..it was Margaret Parsons I wrote to, and she acknowledged my letter and said it was unlikely that the article would have been printed in today's newspaper...she must have pushed it thru for us!! I forgot to raise it at the meeting last week, but NORTHERN VOICES will put a plug in for 'Burnley Say No to ID' when it comes out next year. Just get someone to remind me nearer Christmas.

Thanks Bryan...Btw...Mitch mentioned the possibility of selling N.V. in Nelson and Colne Bookshops and local newsagents...she told me about an article regarding the history of Silverman Hall (I think!), that might attract a few local readers if it was included with a front page headline, perhaps? When it's produced you could try running off a few copies for me and Mitch to hand to local retailers, to see if they're interested in taking up the challenge of selling it? What do you think? Perhaps discuss it further at the NAN conference...

Have spoken with the Lancashire Evening Telegraph today - and have forwarded them a copy of our leaflet, plus latest newsletter from SayNo2ID.
There should be a longer spread on Burnley/Pendle Defy ID in either Mon/Tuesdays Lancashire Evening Telegraph. Will keep my eye out. News on this at Thursdays meeting.
