"Visit Palestine" - Films and Discussion.
Basement cafe , 24 lever St, Mancheser
7.00pm Tuesday 4th October - (cafe closed)
"Visit Palestine" short films, presentation and Q & A
on how and why Palestinians continue throwing out the
welcome rug for internationals to join the resistance
after Israel's summer of disengagement.
Andrew Ford Lyons, a coordinator for the International
Solidarity Movement will discuss the recent summer
campaign, upcoming olive harvest, and civil
disobedience in the occupied territories.
The films by Lena, a Mancheser Video activist who is
still in Palestine and uploading films to the Net
include.
In the Path of the Wall.
A short film showing a non-violent direct action
against the Israeli Apartheid Wall in the West Bank
village of Bil'in on the 20th July 2005. Four
internationals, three Israelis and one Palestinian
chain themselves inside a metal cylinder which is
placed in the path of the bulldozers that daily come
to destroy the land belonging to the village and annex
it to a nearby settlement
If you destroy the trees...
Bil'in, The West Bank, 4th May 2005: Residents of
Bil'in village, together with international and
Israeli activists, chain themselves to olive trees
that are to be uprooted to make way for the Israeli
apartheid wall. The wall is currently being
constructed in many areas of Palestine.
