Madness will be descending across Bradford as THE MAD ARTS FESTIVAL hits
the streets 9-15 OCTOBER!
Bradford’s first Mad Arts Festival will raise awareness, fight stigma
and celebrate the amazing creativity, innovation and talent of people
affected by mental health issues. The festival is a truly grassroots
initiative by mental health service users and survivors, carers and
professionals, supported by Evolving Minds, Mad Pride and with help from
The University of Bradford and The Link Project.
ALL EVENTS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO ALL!

2-4pm Poetry workshop & performance with John Siddique -Theatre in the
Mill, University of Bradford, BD7 1DP The highly acclaimed poet shares
his work and wisdom!
9pm-1am Mad Cabaret - The Love Apple.The Maddest night of year!
Featuring: stand up comedy from Graham Binns; performance poetry from
John Siddique & Bruce Barnes; live music from funk band MODELISTE;
singer songwriters Heather Bayliss, Tim Moon & Ceri-Mai Penrick, DJs,
creative workshop, chill out…and more!
Wednesday 11th October
8pm onwards Tales of Madness -The New Beehive, Westgate BD1 3AA. Fairy
stories, tall stories, caring stories. Open mic. Gaslight + blazing
fire= perfect atmosphere! With poet Bruce Barnes.
Thursday 12th October
3.30-4.30pm Aiden Shingler - ‘One In A Hundred: The Experience of
Schizophrenia’ talk & slideshow University of Bradford, Main Lecture
Theatre School of Health Studies, Trinity Rd BD5 0BB
Artist & campaigner Aiden Shingler’s work is imbued with signs, symbols,
synchronicity and significance. As seen on TV! (brought to you with help
from the Centre for Citizenship & Community Mental Health)

1-2.30pm Creative Art Workshop - Quaker Meeting House, Russell Street
BD5 0JB. With artists Donna Shinkins & Naomi Wise. Materials provided.
8pm - 10pm Superstition Stories & Music - The New Beehive. Stories of
fortune, fate and ways of the world, Open mic. Gaslight + blazing fire =
perfect atmosphere!
Saturday 14th October
1-3pm Guided walk & tour of Lister Park & Cartwright Hall. See the
Hockey exhibition and the award winning park with a friendly and
supportive group. Meet 1pm outside Cartwright Hall main entrance.
Sunday 15th October
1-3pm Guided tour of The National Museum of Photography, Film &
Television. See the amazing museum and galleries with a friendly and
supportive group. Meet 1pm outside NMPFT main entrance.
