Hey up,
Fred & Reg phoned - both coming. Just sent you an email Michele about checking with Eileen & Phil - see whether they're coming?
Be good to talk about our overall plans for this year - a flyer/Burnley Voice newsletter is definitely on my list!
Also, I'd like to discuss plans for anti-fascist action in the area - the BNP are already rearing their ugly heads moving towards May local elections and we need to discuss I reckon what we're gonna do about this.
BNP councillors in Burnley are opportunistically supporting every residents campaign they can hop onto, and already in Pendle they are leafleting the two wards of Cloverhill and Southfield with their vile fascist message.
They've also been writing letters to the local press with a vengance, with again opportunistic critiques of Elevate to win residents' support, and they will no doubt be winning support in the context of pending hospital closures and unpopular housing restructuring.
Anti fascist action should I think be top of our list in the first half of this year, and frankly I'll be working with any anti fascist group in the area who is fighting against the BNP - the situation in Burnley, with some BNP encroachment in Pendle, is too dangerous to do otherwise I'd suggest.
Look forward to further discussions later tonight, and organising getting to NAN conference on 4th Feb etc.

Minutes of B.A. Meeting Thursday 26th Jan 2006.
6 attendees, 2 apologies.
1. Nan Conference, 4th Feb. Hopefully 2 carloads of people from Burnley and Pendle will be attending. If 2 cars not available, Michele will enquire re: rail and bus travel.
2. Burnley Voice Newsletter. Proposal to submit articles for same within the next fortnight, on various local issues such as DefyID, T.A.M., Anti Fascist Activity, Casualisation in the Workforce, publicity for East Lancs L.E.T.S. scheme, and others. (Mitch, please add any I've missed out!)
3. Spanish Civil War Centenary: Mitch and Michele to explore archive material from Nelson Library. Fred to continue to explore archive material at Burnley Central Library. A suggestion was made to also explore other archive material from such places as Rossendale.
4. Great Manchester Anarchist Convention 2006. It was agreed that members of B.A. would take part in this event. Delegates elected to attend organisational meetings for same: Michele and Reg.
5. Anti Fascist Action, Working with other Groups, report on BNP activity. Mitch and Les presented copies of recent BNP leaflets they had received. Mitch and Michele to meet members of Pendle UAF to consult them on what action is going to be taken locally, and what part we can play in this. Les showed the group an article in the Eden Project magazine about the Peace Garden in Brierfield, which was calling for greater unity between the asian and white communities, and Michele suggested contacting the editor of the magazine for permission to reprint some or all of the article in the next Pendle edition of Searchlight newspaper.
6. Burnley Defy ID group. Mitch to make contact with people who showed interest before Christmas, to suggest that we start to meet again to continue this campaign. Will be making use of material provided on AF-North website...with thanks to Knightrose for this.
7. Burnley Anarchist Fun Day. Postponed till around end of May, beginning of June when we may have access to an outdoor facility...thus attracting more people to attend.
8. Burnley Anarchist Social...Trip to the theatre. Possible date to attend April 11th. Final arrangements to be discussed at next B.A. meeting in 2 weeks' time.
9. A.O.B.: May Day festival @ Burnley. Proposal to have both a B.A. stand and a E.L.Lets stand as per last year, and possibly a Clarets against Racism stand too.
Hope these notes are enough...Please would anybody who can think of things I may have omitted to enter, alter the notes accordingly.
