Solaris152, I agree with you that it is silly to require an activation code, and unfortunately this does not seem to always work when you are registering your account. Did you register as solaris to begin with? and then receive no email from Proboards? or did you receive the initial email welcoming you, but then not be able to login using your desired new password? if you can tell me which of the above situations you are in I will try to help you...may have to refer back to Proboards.com in order to get the correct advice for u methinks! Sorry!!

More info on the above problems...from www.support.proboards.com : I'm not getting my activation key in my email! If you use AOL, they tend to block lots of mail that should be allowed through. If you can not get your key with AOL, we suggest you use an alternate email account with a different provider (such as hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc). Please try the above and see if this works...please also note that additional requests for an activation code make void the requests you've already made and will slow down the process. Please contact me again if problems persist...

Please can anybody who previously has had problems registering/receiving their activation key, let me know if the situation has now been rectified, or whether there is still a problem?

Ok Solaris...I will look into this again for you, as I verified your account a few days ago...I wasn't aware that the site had altered so that admin had to activate your account, when it updated to Proboards V.4 a short time ago...I have now set it so that future accounts do not need me to activate them.
Please, in the meantime, check your junk mail to see if you've received notification since, or try logging in using your original username and password, and let me know what happens.
As regards the 'proper forum software'...this is just a free web forum, so I have not been aware, until now, of any software that I could use for it...I'm not a professional website builder or anything!

Solaris, please try posting as a member, and tell me exactly what error message you get, if any, this time.
I have consulted with the Proboards Support site and found that at least 1 member's account was disabled, however yours wasn't so you should be able to post as long as you're using your correct username/password that you registered with...
