Hi and welcome Nicola, I'm gonna let Michele tell you about the area around Turf Moor as she spent a lot of her childhood round that area so is an expert. Hope you like football!! ;D Burnley is football crazy. The world cups everywhere round here at the moment! Speaking as someone who wasn't brought up round here, I like Burnley and feel well at home- the people are the best. There's a lot of humour round here. Over to Michele for more details on Turf Moor. Byeee Mitch

Thanks Mitch..... Both my husband and I are both Burnley fans and have lots of friends that live in the area, but we don't feel that they are giving us an impartial view of the area- they just want us to move closer so we don't have to kip on their floor when we have a night out!!!!. Absolutely love people from Burnley they are, as you say the friendliest people ever. Await more replies
Thanks again!!
Nicola xxx

Hi Nicola, thanks for joining the site. Well, I don't know if I can really give you an impartial opinion about Turf Moor, since I lived there with my family from 1965-1987. My mum and dad still live on Turf Moor Estate, on Walsden Grove, and my sister and her family still live on Carholme Ave and Brownhill Ave. I must say that I prefer the council housing on that estate to any other, Brunshaw for example, as it was only built in the 50's instead of in the 30's, so appeared more modern, and lovely gardens. My parents would say that the quality of tenants has dropped since the 80's, but then she is a bit prim and proper when it comes to the house, and likes peace and quiet..her and my dad are retired now and my own opinion of council housing, 3 beds, is that it should be reserved as council housing for families with children only, and that older people ought to be helped to relocate to a smaller property when they retire...sorry if that sounds a little 'Big Brotherish'!! I quite like the newer council housing around Belverdere Estate too...Holcombe Drive, Chichester Close etc. There are 3 children's parks that I know of around Turf Moor, 2 are very close to the football field, and 1 is just off Brunshaw Road, as it becomes steeper...I would take care with children there, it is a notoriously dangerous road!! If you're looking for private housing then there is also a great selection around the Turf Moor and Brunshaw areas...from large/small terraced properties to semi detached. I think the area has something for everybody, including a couple of corner shops and a few great chippies!! ;D Good luck in your search for a new home
