Well folks, since being employed last year by East Lancs Salivate (for a hefty fee!) the posh and becks of Burnley have been hard at work 'blue sky thinking' (unfortunately Wilson hasn't taken to the damp air and dark skies of Burnley, and the wind that whipps up down the canal channels keeps blowing Yvette's hair in her face).
Things are coming along nicely, says Wilson in a recent interview with gonzo.... thanks to the longterm work from Burnley Council most of the areas around the centre of Burnley have been left to rot, particular around the Piccadily Road and Burnley Wood areas. So we're ready with the bulldosers and a yuppee plan which will see some choice posh cafes and bars (much too expensive for locals, but we'll shove them out on the periphery of the area somewhere where we can't see them!).
Wilson explains, ... the commuter belts into Manchester to the south are bursting at the seems around Altrincham, Sale and Timperley. What we're trying to do is, once the transport links can be established more effectively from Burnley and Pendle direct into Manchester, is develop this area as an alternative yupee commuter belt. In the meantime Yvette plans to get a haircut, and I've been laying plans for designer allotments alongside the canal with a view to keeping the co-operative spirit going in the area. (new allotments will be available at £1000 per month rent).
Wilson and other New Labour dork heads comment further on the region - The property developers are already progressing well in both Burnley and Pendle, with many investors from outside the area buying up the terraces at cheap prices, gutting them and doing them up. Those locals, many of whom have lived in their houses for 40 odd years are miffed as to why their houses have trippled in value in just three years in the Nelson area?! Many are being driven mad by the noise of investors who have bought the house next door and are gutting it, as they've been driven mad by the centre of Nelson building work.
Rents have risen too, charged by investors buying up cheap property with a vengence. Meanwhile, local salaries in Burnley and Nelson are some of the lowest in the country and have risen little in the last five years.
Things are coming along well in Nelson - Liberata's new office buildings are nearly complete - equipped with yuppie cafe and designer businesses.
Back in Burnley Wilson and Livesey have been painting the canal edges with gold paint, and are planning more workshops to look busy.
Three cheers for Salivate!
