Well, I haven't got a sound bite yet, but as soon as I get one I will post it for this superb duo...
They played last night at The Craven Heifer pub in Harle Syke nr Burnley, to a capacity crowd as usual...
What can I say? Their choice of songs is superb, harmonies are spot on...and instrument playing fantastic.
They sang songs from a number of musical eras...from the 50's through to the 90's...numbers by the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Gallagher and Lyle, Crowded House...and many many more...I'm sorry if I can't list them all!
As usual the atmosphere was electric...old and new friends gathered to hear them...apparently these guys have been playing together since the 70's and last night a motley crue of their older fans met together, some for the first time in years, and celebrated times past as well as the present...
There were calls of 'Where's the Broadswords lot?'...to which one table would reply..'We're here!' then it was 'The Sparrowhawk..this is just like the old days...play some Joe Jackson!'
Phil and Andy played from around 8pm till 11.30pm and certainly earned their cash...but the audience worked with them to make the evening one to remember...here's a few pics to aid your memories...
If you ever have the chance to go and see them play, don't miss the opportunity, it's an evening well spent...
Phil Shackleton
Andy Nutter
getting into the swing of things
a relaxing post-gig chat
some of the motley crue...from left I think (blue sweatshirt)...Mick, Tony, Jeanette, Rose, Julie and Graham
Sharon in Dylan heaven!
Brad of the Broadswords getting into 'Rocket Man'...
Cheers! Julie and Michele
