Hey up, That Lancs Telegraph spread was superb. (expect the Nelson Leader will have more of a big spread on Friday after public meeting.
On the churches sweets - have had some success today. United Reform and Independent Methodists are going to do the bulk of their petition collecting next Sunday.
However Vicar of St Pauls/St Marys just spoken with him, he is coming to the meeting tomorrow night with petition sheets etc.
Just St Johns, Quakers and the two pubs tonight then for collection - although think most definitely representatives from St Johns will be there tomorrow night.
Catch you shortly. byeeeee Mitch x

Hi Mitch..thanks for tonight and for contacting all those peeps from the churches regarding the petitions. Just a quickie about what happened with the petition at The Bull. It was pinned up for a few days, then somebody tore it down Anyway, the landlady has promised to put it up again, when Children in Need is on...hoping that a more charitable crowd will be in that night, and will put it up again after that event (after the weekend), and we can collect it on Wednesday next. She says she's gonna approach people as they buy drinks at the bar, and persuade them to sign up!! Btw, those cocktails were simply marvelous!!! I didn't feel ill off them and managed to eat my plate of spag bol with a little garlic bread..no spaghetti, and just one packet of s/v crisps....yummmy!!! ;D

Anyone who has been listening to local Lancashire radio or watcing Granada News will now be aware that early this morning immigration services and the police visited the Karim's home in Nelson to arrest them.
They were not at home. The public meeting is still being held at Christ Church, Carr Rd, Nelson at 6pm tonight.
All are welcome to attend - come along and support the Karim Family this evening.

Mitch! thank you so much for putting the pix on the site for me. I've copied you on replies to emails I received from Nigel Karim and from Emma of the NCADC... As Nigel points out in his letter to me, the campaign must continue...putting out petitions whereever we can, for as long as it takes...and other stuff too, if it becomes necessary...we should not let the family give in without a 'peaceful' fight!!

Mitch, thanks for helping me to help out with the Karim family campaign...it seems to be getting off to another good start, with lots of publicity and support from all sectors of the community!!
In view of the most recent reports from the Lancs Eve Telegraph and the Nelson Leader regarding the bounty placed on the life of Nigel Karim I think it would be immoral of the UK government to force the family to return to Pakistan!!

www.holysaviour.org.ukCheck this out if you haven't already. Judicial review in progress at the High court, and in the next couple of weeks a definite decision is to be made on whether the Karim family stays. There was an article in Friday just gone Nelson Leader too Michele - you can see it on the holy saviour site. I'm thinking about the family at this time anywise, and hoping it's yes. ....... with more to say, but probably not at this moment. Any thoughts Michele? Best Mitchx

Hi Mitch, thanks for alerting me to this! I had no idea the judicial review was underway. I'm trying to keep positive, as Nigel Karim says he is doing in one of the articles, and hope that the High Court will side with the family.

www.holysaviour.org.uk/Sorry, delay in putting this up, I saw the front page of the Nelson Leader over a week ago indicating Judicial Review failed - and now appeal for asylum on compassionate grounds. There is no compassion in the Home Office though.
